Another Day, Another Dollar...

My first period is all seniors. It's great, aside from the attendance
issues. They have a project to work on three days a week and we have
traditional math class the other two. It's the perfect way to deal
with "senioritis." The project is a scrapbook of all their high
school math courses: Alg 1, Geometry, Alg 2, and Alg 3. Most are
using PowerPoint, and really enjoying it...

Nothing too unusual the rest of the day, so far. Gave out several
detentions for students not doing their work or just being disruptive
in general. Alg 1 most seem to be adjusting to the new system well.
AGI (basic math) were out of sorts today. They complained that I was
making them learn, and few began their assignment without me
specifically ordering them too. One student had his cell phone out,
cleverly disguised by book standing up on his desk (oh please!!!). I
took the battery and handed it back. Then I gave the battery to his
basketball coach. Score one for the good guys!!!

I'm not sure when the transition took place, but I no longer refer to
coming here as "going to school" in the morning. I say that I'm
"going to work". I noticed that this morning. I'm not totally sure
how I feel about it, or if it even matters.
