Triumph

The later classes went well!!! My most difficult class really understood the material and worked on their assignment. This excludes, of course, the boy who sleeps everyday allday (in every class, not just mine). I wonder what he does all night?! No Child Left Behind??? What about when they refuse to do anything?!. Oh well, I really can't complain because the vast majority of my students are great.

The last class of the day seems to be the most difficult to get through to. There are a few girls that seem to argue with everything - a curse of the teenage drama queen. And most of the others love to jump on the bandwagon when one of them starts in, which is often. Keeping them in line without having them get huffy and tuning out completely is a daily tight rope walk. I hope I get them in class again when they are seniors so that I can see how they've grown. That's the best part about teaching high school. Watching the stunning transition from child to young adult. It's fascinating and beautiful and more often than not fills me with a sense of pride. I imagine that when I have a child it will be like that all the time (or maybe I'm just terribly naive!).
