- Mini-projects for each topic we've covered throughout the year as a portfolio type final assessment.
- good: lots of structure, several small projects gives less opportunity to get bored and waste time, also increases chances each student will find something interesting to them, possibility for group work. if students do well and really get into it I could make it a final exam grade - maybe.
- bad: LOTS of work on my part to get projects together and will need much of it done by Tues., not alot of room for grades other than effort grades until the end result - many students do not have maturity to focus on a long term goal.
- Research a career and find out what kind of math skills each much have.
- good: real-world information, may engage students and open their eyes to what they need to do to succeed.
- bad: may be overkill - I think they do a large similar project in English, too little structure, student of this level do not have the maturity to focus on long term goals whether it be a career or project.
- something else entirely
Lots of decisions and not alot of time to make them. I could also go back and recover the Chapter on volume and area, but that would not be well recieved by the students.
