End of the week. Mike is in another good mood. This is just downright unprecedented. I thanked him last night and he said he wasn't really trying, he just feels better. He mentioned tonight that he thinks the lack of caffeine could have something to do with it. He had a Dt. Dr. Pepper tonight (with caffeine) and he did get a little cranky. Granted Spencer was being a butthead, so it's somewhat warranted.
I think we really do have to get the pnp out for time-outs. Spencer was being diliberately beligerant tonight. We always clean up before bathtime and he usually is tasked with putting the cars on the shelf, but he just didn't want to do it. He would put a couple cars up and then mosey off to do something else. I swatted him and though he did get upset, he didn't change the behavior, so I put him in time out. That helped and we got the cars put away. Mike was actually pretty patient with him, and held his hand to walk him into his room for naked time. I wonder if when I read this in 25 years I'll remember the ritual of naked time before bathtime. I hope so.
Spencer did lots of "talking" today. Lot's mimicing sounds and filling in spaces. I think he said nite-nite. I put RaRa down for a nap and said, "Spencer say night-night Rachel, she'd going to sleep." (which she didn't but whatever), and he said nite-nite pretty clearly. I'll take it. I've been working on simplifying what I'm saying to minimal words and repeating the words and such. It's hard because I was trying so hard to speak to him normally thinking that was better. Oh well, live and learn.
Rachel was good today. I propped the bottle for the first time. That's the first time ever. Never did it with Spencer and he never held his bottle either, so that was a lot of bottles held. But I was making dinner and she was fussing. I knew she wanted a bottle and bed and it was going to be at least 10 minutes before I could get her either. So I put a pillow on her and propped the bottle on it. She sucked down the whole thing. It was quite liberating. Not something I'll repeat though. I don't want to get into the habit of not holding her. Not that she'd allow that.
She's rolling across teh room now. Spencer never did that either. I'll turn my head and turn back and she's 4 feet over. She's so damn cute!
I've got great kids and a great husband. Life is good!
