Up and down day. My mom was here. She was helpful. She said that she got Spencer showing her his nose and ears. I'll work with him more on that tomorrow. The last time that happened it was his foot and he wouldn't do it for me until like a week later. Note that I didn't say point to his nose. The child will not point. We were making progress today, when I held his hand in the pointing position, but he wouldn't do it himself. Actually, he tried to put him hand on his, so I'm sure he thinks that I have to do it for him. Then I tried to get him to point to fire truck in the Little Wheels book. He wouldn't do it. Kept trying to close the book and get off my lap. I got so frustrated, I actually swatted his butt. I didn't hurt him, though he did cry for a split second cause I'm sure he didn't understand. Well that didn't help and he then refused to even look at the book. So I put him down and I started crying. He started reading the book on his own. Then Rachel started crying because I was crying (she's at that age already???). Spencer went over to Rachel - I realize now to play with her a bit, which calmed her down. Then he came over to me - I was laying down on the floor at that point - and gave me a hug and a kiss, both unsolicited. I love that kid!!!!!!!! He was more receptive to pointing in another book before "the incident" so maybe it is coming. Who knows. Why doesn't he get it???
He was crazy hyper for the hour or so just before bed. And his shirt has been soaking wet (literally) down the front of his shirt from drooling. Can we say molars?
I also started to be more firm with "Spencer go get ______". I've been thinking that he doesn't know the names of objects cause when I say that, he often doesn't do it. Now, however, I'm thinking it's just another case of 'she doesn't make me so why should I'. Mike told him to get his car and put it away and he did. It took a few times telling him, and he tried to hand it to Mike first, but in the end he understood and did what he was asked.
RaRa and Spencer are both in bed. They are both playing in their cribs and making lots of noise. Spencer is singing, maybe? Rachel is just squealing, no doubt excited to have those little toes.
Oh and it's official, Spencer is definitely using 'hungry' to get out of going to bed, or doing anything he doesn't want to do. He was signing it like mad when I was trying to make him show me the fire engine in the book. Little mischievous mind! :oP
RaRa was good today too. Her drooling and chewing on her fingers is really starting up. My mom put her in this little dress, and she was so cute. I should have taken a picture.
I got some play food for our play kitchen and Spencer and I made some play dinner and play ate it. We also play poured play juice and milk into our play cups (well, actually, the cup really is a cup, so I guess it's not a play cup) from our play cartons and pretend drank. It was fun.
Both kids just got quiet at the same time. It's a little eery. Mike just said, "Are they going to team up against us like this forever?" I said, "Yep! We wanted them close so they could be best friends." I'm not even going to touch how he sees them playing happily in their cribs as them being against us.
