Good day. I got everything packed up. The kids were good.
Mike was good. Until his computer broke this evening, but I can't fault him for being upset, I'd have been pissed too. I hope he can get it fixed. He does his work on his computer (always a bad idea IMO), and he hasn't backed up for a week. I hope that's not grounds for termination. I doubt it. He got a job offer today at the alternate place he's been working. They have a gym on premises and the work nine hour days so they have every other Friday off (only 8 hours on the working Friday). Hopefully he will take it. He's worried about leaving the people at his old office in a lurch. He thinks there's a good chance the the office will close if he leaves because he'd be taking the project with him and that's their only source of income right now. It's very admirable, but also a little pompous to think the place will literally shut down if he leaves. He's a good guy with a big conscience though and I certainly am not going to argue with that. He says that if (when) his office closes there will be a spot for him at the alternate place even if he doesn't technically accept their offer now.
Spencer wasn't talkative in the morning - again. He was great for Miss Jen though at therapy. She said he's saying go, and my. He's not saying them for me yet, but he's trying new things. He was very talkative in the afternoon, and he's definitely getting better at responding yes or no. He's actually great at responding no, it's yes that throws him. I think I need to be more consistent with what I tell him. I try to give him too many options maybe. I put all his favorite toys and books in a basket to be put in the car and he yelled what had to be 'stop' and came running to see where I was going. He's also started climbing up everything. Onto the tables, furniture, etc. That's good because I can open his side of the van and see him start climbing in while I walk around the other side to put Rachel in.
Rachel was on a sleep strike, but other than that very good. She's full on belly laughing now. It's so fucking cute. I'm working on a digital scrapbooking layout with her and butterflies. She just hams it up for the camera.
I got the van packed up for our trip tomorrow. I had a stroke of what I believe is utter genius as I was loading it. I packed minimally since we'll only be there till Monday morning. So I was able to fit all of our stuff in the front part. Actually there's nothing in front of Spencer's seat either. This leaves the ENTIRE rear cargo area completely empty. Why you might ask? So we can have a picnic, of course. The kids can stretch out, Spencer can even walk around a bit. We can eat and chill without having to leave the warmth and safety of the van. I can change their diapers etc. And as long as I don't drink anything in the morning, I should be able to make it down there without using the bathroom myself - I'm crossing my fingers on that one. I made it both ways last time, but that was at night and my body is used to not going at night. It will be tough to not drink coffee in the morning. The things I sacrifice for my kids :oP.
