The funniest thing happened yesterday. When I put Spencer down for a nap, he wanted to take Rocket with him. Knowing no good would come of it, but wanting to avoid flat out taking Rocket away, I put Rocket on the chair and put a blanket over him and made a big deal about saying goodnap, etc. When I came to get Spencer he was still laying down chillin', so I went to Rocket and said 'Good Day, Did you have a good nap? Are you ready to play, Rocket?" I took the blanket off and at the same time pushed the button to make the noise go. So it sounded like Rocket singing 'yes' like he does in the show. Well apparently Spencer didn't see me press the button because he looked at me with shock and awe. For the next half hour he kept putting the blanket on Rocket and pulling it off again (presumably waiting for Rocket to talk back). It was so funny!!! He also got Leo, put Rocket's steps down, put Leo in, put the steps back up and then put Leo in his seat. I spent most of the day laughing. Oh, and he was playing in his kitchen (I say in, but I guess it's really more at his kitchen) and putting completely imaginary things in the microwave, turning it on, and getting them out again. Then getting imaginary water from the fridge and drinking it. God damn, I love that kid. And you know my heart is as light as a feather as I watch him do these things. I wish I could go back and erase all the anxiety and terror I had over the summer. Oh well.
Rachel may have an ear infection. She fussy, not eating much, and had some drainage yesterday. She's probably just teething, but I'm taking her in just to be safe. We didn't go to playgroup this morning. Something just didn't feel right about going. Seemed like one thing after another kept happening so that we wouldn't go. We still could have, but as I said, something just didn't feel right about it. Weird, I know, but I don't have these feelings often, so when I do, I go with them.
Mike was in a great family oriented mood last night, much to my delight. It didn't hurt that Spencer said "hi dada" when he came in (we practiced!).
