As we were walking out of the gym today (incidentally, she 'made' the cutest little handprint turkey, but Spencer wanted nothing to do with the project lol), she wanted to walk. So I let her, but outside she has to hold my hand. She didn't want to, so I made her, but she wasn't happy about it. She cried all the way to the car and then broke down into complete hysterics in the car. I had to get her out of her carseat and sit with her for a few minutes to calm her down. And the whole day was like that.
When Mike came home I must have seemed a bit harried because he told me to just take off and do a little of the shopping I wanted to get done. It's been a real hassle to take both kids into a store lately. It used to be easy. Oh well, I guess I had it easy for a lot longer than a lot of other parents, I shouldn't complain too much. I did get a ton of fun stuff at Michael's to keep the kids (and me too) entertained for awhile.
Spencer's started saying hi and bye spontaneously to people. He was looking strangely at an older gentleman at the grocery today and I told him to say hi, but he said no and cowered under me. He said hi to a bunch of other people though, so there must have been something about that guy that freaked him out.
Sad note: I had to put a childproof door thingy on the inside of Spencer's door today to keep him from coming out at naptime. It worked and he went to sleep immediately. I forgot to take it off tonight though and he stayed up playing with it until he figured it out. So he did take a nap (point for mommy), but then he stayed up late (point for Spencer). And I lost my ace-in-the-hole for keeping him in there (point for Spencer). Well, I guess I lost that game lol.
One of my bbc pals suggested that it's a healthy habit to make a list of what your grateful for. So here's mine. I could have gone on quite a bit longer, but I do have other things to do tonight. Like organizing all the new craft stuff.
- I'm grateful for two wonderful, happy, healthy children.
- I'm grateful that we have everything we want and quite a few luxury's as well.
- I'm grateful that I have a husband who loves me deeply and would do anything for me.
- I'm grateful that I love him too, and that our marriage made it through the last two years intact.
- I'm grateful that there are so many resources available to help dh and I be the best parents possible to our children, and to help our children have every possible opportunity in life.
- I'm grateful that my children have three sets of loving grandparents who would pull down the moon for them if needed.
- I'm grateful that each set of grandparents is so drastically different so my kids have an innate sense of human equality regardless of bank account status, sexual orientation and race.
- I'm grateful that there will never be a time in my kids life that they will have to wonder if we will ever have a non-white President.
- I am grateful for digital photography for making me able to take amazing photos with absolutely no talent or skill at all. And with no additional money past buying the camera.
- I'm grateful to Photoshop for being the relaxing hobby I've been looking for all my life.
- I am grateful for my Mac and not having to worry about bbc posts regarding viruses.
- I'm grateful to Faith for starting this thread, because I feel like I could go on and on.
