OMG, Spencer is being such a handful these last few days.  Seemingly constant hitting and time outs.  I've started making him say a full sentence for every request he makes, rather than just saying one word and me knowing what he means.  In Spencer world "choc milk?" is more than enough to get his point across.  So I'm making say the whole sentence and he's doing decently.

We sat down at the table and played a game together.  It was the Candyland Castle game I got him for Christmas.  I tried to imitate the way the SLP was doing it (she had a similar game with fish).  I had much more success than she did.  Actually, I had much more success than I ever have before, so maybe she just laid the foundation for me to build on.  We took turns and he seemed to understand what to do.  It was nice.  He didn't seem to get the concept of winning, he was just excited to match the pieces to his game board.  And after a few tries, he got that if he got a piece he didn't need, he just put it back.  At first he kept trying to give them to me to fill in my game board lol.  It was nice.  I'll try to play it again tomorrow and hopefully it will go as well.  Who knows, maybe in a couple weeks, we can play the real Candy land ;o).  I've also been trying to read books and imitate the way that she does it.  Constant questions, trying to encourage comprehension rather than just simple enjoyment.

I tried to fix the toilet this morning.  Gawh, it all seems so simple, but I always forget to check one thing or another and end up taking the whole thing apart at least 3 times.  I was being really careful to check everything, but of course I didn't.  And the kids were trying to help, so I had to just call it quits until Mike gets home.  Hopefully there is only a little bit left to do.  If there's still a problem, then I'm calling a plumber.  It will really suck to have to put out a bunch of money after I've already spent so much time trying to fix things.

Rachel is doing well.  We painted this morning and she seemed to like it.  She hasn't taken to it the way Spencer idd, but she likes it.  It's so much harder to pinpoint her interests than it was with Spencer.  By the time he was her age, he'd found Hot Wheels and the rest is history.  She hasn't found that one niche item that seems to really keep her engaged yet. Well, besides the tv.  I told Mike the other night that his choosing Potato as her nickname may have been incredibly appropriate :o(.
