The Thanksgiving food was fab (not to toot my own horn or anything, but it was). Unfortuneatly, I had the *genius* idea of putting the kids (Spencer, Rachel, Sara - 5 and Audrey - 4 ) at a 'kids table'. Could not have been a worse idea if I'd tried. The 5 and 4 year old were fine, but Spencer and Rachel, not so much. Just not ready for that kind of freedom. Oh well, maybe next year.
Spencer also made a horrendous poopy just as I sat down to eat that had his butt so raw, I couldn't even touch it to wipe him clean without him being in utter agony. That didn't help things lol.
But the food was great, the company was better and overall it was a great holiday.
Friday was good too. My friend Allison came over with her son (a few weeks younger than Rachel) and the kids played and painted and had lunch.
Then we went to my mom's for a second Thanksgiving dinner. I won't lie and say that I wasn't a little envious of her turkey being juicier than mine. Her dinner was fantastic as well and we had a great time there too. Spencer bulked at dinner again and threw several tantrums - which are getting really, really, really old btw - but what else is new. Rachel had a good time as well, there were two children pretty close in age to our two and the four had fun playing. We had to leave early because Rachel still goes to bed so early. Both kids were asleep in the car by the time we got home at 6:15 and we didn't hear from them again until morning. Guess that explains some of Spencer's poor behavior though.
Today we hung around the house. Did a couple crafts, colored, the usual. I took Spencer to Sara's birthday party at a skating rink. I was hopeful that he would try skating for the first time. He's shown interest when there were skates at Sara's house, but nope. He was borderline terrified of them. He was actually pretty well behaved if you don't count the times I tried to get him put the skates on. He listened well even when he really didn't like what I was saying. I didn't feel like I needed to keep my eyes on him every moment or he would take off. It was kinda nice just having one child to follow around. He enjoyed cake and ice cream and seemed to really grasp the concept of presents like he never has before. Even if they weren't his and I had to stop him from opening them lol.
I'm exhausted again. As usual. And I slept in this morning. I stayed up until 1 though so sleeping in just kept me at the minimal 7.5 hours though.
