Did a 15k run today. I think it’s my second (or maybe third) longest run ever. And it was easy.
I kept my pace slow, technically more jogging than running probably. Used my watch to make sure I was sticking to a 12:30 pace. I had actually intended to stick at about 13:00, so I was going faster than planned. I only walked twice, once for about a minute, and then the second time when I came around a corner and saw this really big hill in front of me. That was almost 3 minutes. So over the 9.3 miles on 117 minutes, I ran/jogged for 9.1 miles and 113 minutes. A couple weeks ago I would have said there’s no way I could do that. Then again, I couple of weeks ago I was trying to focus on speed and distance at the same time.
So for now, I’m putting speed aside and concentrating on distance. After the half (5 weeks and counting), I think I’ll focus on speed for awhile. Still doing long slow runs on the weekends though.
Other than that, things are good. Had a great time visiting with some family last week. Spencer and Rachel had so much fun with their cousins, and I got to spend some time with a good friend. Life is pretty steady, which is just the way I like it.
