So Mike took the job. The smartest choice, really. If in six months (or less) things are looking like it's not a good fit, he can part ways and get his dream job at Ikea.

Rachel came into our bed at 4am having a coughing fit. I dont know how long before that she was coughing, but at 5:15 she still hadnt gone more than five minutes straight without coughing. So I dressed and headed to the store for cough medicine. None of the dosages are for children under 4 years, but I just gave her the lowest dosage so the poor thing could get some sleep. She was so good about taking the medicine even though it tasted nasty. I gave her some more this afternoon so she could nap and another dose just now so she can sleep tonight. Poor thing.

We generally stay away from medicines for run-of-the-mill coughs and colds. I think that by feeling better, you don't get the rest your body needs to fight off whatever is causing the symptoms and it just takes longer to get healthy again. Don't misunderstand, they are absolutely necessary (and a gift from god) if you have no choice but to carry on like you are healthy. Im certainly not anti- medicine or anything. But if it is possible to slow down (and we are insanely grateful to be at a place in life where it is), then I think it is best to just let the virus do it's thing and knock you around so that you are forced to rest. I think this is especially true for children. Or at least for mine, who tell me that even with a 102 fever they feel fine and want to go to school lol. If I gave them meds, they'd really never register the need to take it easy. As much as it pains me to see them feeling bad, I think it's better for their growing bodies and minds to learn to pay attention to what their bodies are telling them it needs. At least while they are young and still have that luxury. There will be plenty of time later in their lives when slowing down won't be an option.

Luckily Spencer is still doing well. He has a mild cough, so I'm braced for him to be the next to come down with it though.

No workout again today. Running in the morning. Maybe in the rain. That's always so refreshing. Or treadmill if mike is feeling bad.

Calories today were okay. Up until I made apple crisp tonight lol. But prob still not that bad. I didn't really eat much. Just too busy.
