I'd categorized today as a pretty good day. My sore throat hurts when I swallow, which to me is the pre-cursor to an actual sickness and not sore throat. That sucks. Hopefully it's nothing. I'm going to go to bed early tonight to try to kick it. Spencer was whiny, I don't think he's feeling 100% either, combined with his coming to realize he can have specific wants, but not knowing how to tell me them, and well... The later is the terrible two's in a nutshell, right?
Rachel is still sick. Showing no real signs of improvement and she's definitely not got her usual energy, but she's not lethargic or crying constantly or really showing many signs of not feeling good. Her little eyes just don't seem to have their usual brightness. I called the doc this morning, but they didnt call me back intil the afternoon. The nurse said to give her a bottle of pedialyte instead of formula, and then mix half and half until she's better. She's definitely got a little bug working through her system. I was laying on my side this afternoon and she was rolling toward me, and she stopped halfway so she was on her side facing me. We just looked at each other for about a minute. I really wanted to kiss her little forhead, but with my sore throat I thought better of it. It was a nice moment though.
Spencer said a few words, I think I wrote before about them. He was talkative the rest of the day too, and the humming thing the SLP suggested worked well - if he's quiet, hum and he'll most likely hum back, and when he hums, hum back to initiate conversation. He wasn't sucking his thumb quite as much as he was the past few days also. He was pointing to things in books, and I was quick to name them for him. So he's definitely snapped out of his funk. It's like he has two personalities. The one who might be autistic and the one who is definitely not. Today the one who is definitely not was around all day. The last few days have been the other one. I'm just glad my little boy is back.
Mike is doing well. Already back to watching TV and surfing the net.
That's it for now. Both kids are sleeping. I expect Rachel to wake up at least once tonight though. I may ask Lucy to come up tomorrow and watch her so I can take Spencer to the zoo. That would be nice.
