Ugghh!! I hate the new iPhoto. I liked it before. It was a bit of a pain to get all my photos the way I wanted them, but that was okay, because I could get them exactly as I wanted them. Now the entire iPhoto file system is locked down and I have to go in through the back door to access the actual photo files. Which wouldn't be a problem if iPhoto sorted them correctly, but it didn't and I had to fix it. And I'm out of space on my hard drive so I need to clear out some room. So I'm trying to back up my back ups of my back ups of my photos and it's very difficult. Time Machine doesn't seem to be backing up my photos, just my docs, so I'm terrified to delete any of them and have them actually be gone. And my laptop doesn't have a dvd burner, which wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have 25 gb worth of pics. 23 gb of that is since Spencer was born. So, I have to copy everything to a back up drive, then copy from that onto the backup computer taht does have a burner and then burn. So with 4 copies floating around, I should not lose my photos. I know I'm going to lose my photos. :o(

Why am I doing this you might ask. Mike wants me to play World of Warcraft and the game needs like 7 gb worth of space. I'm taking a Green Eggs and Ham attitude and going to try it out. He is trying so hard to find things we can do together. Since I've been thinking and have come up with nothing, I at the very very least owe it to him to be open minded about what he comes up with.

We went to the Aquarium today as a family. It was a good time. We didn't bother with strollers at all. Rachel was with Daddy in the snugli, and I had Spencer's hand. A good time was had by all. Sadly, it was very crowded. Someone commented to me that there was a Girl Scouts outing and as I looked around I saw about 5 bazillion girl scouts. Oh well, live and learn. Next time I'll just go on a weekday. It would be much harder though to have both kids by myself. It was hard enough keeping Spencer from running off.

He ran off from me in the parking garage. He only got about 10 feet, but I spanked him three times. He thought it was funny, but I was pissed. I don't think he really understood.

He was a pointing maniac at the aquarium though. He was pointing at all the exhibits. I couldn't tell if he was pointing at specific fish or just the exhibit in general, but he was definitely pointing. Yippee!!

Rachel seemed to really enjoy it. She, of course, screamed when we got home because she was overtired. This is a recurring motif every time we leave the house.

Mike seemed to have a good time, except for the crowds. He and Rachel seem to be closer than he and Spencer, so he had a better time just being with her. He took lots of pics of them together.

I told Mike that I have expectations of what he should be doing playing with Spencer, and I get annoyed when he doesn't meet them. But, Mike has no idea what those expectations are. So I have to start teaching Mike how to play with Spencer. Why do I have to teach everyone how to play with a little kid. Sit down next to him and feign interest in whatever he's interested in. Read a book, push the cars around, play music on the keyboard. It's not rocket science, but it just seems like everyone is only interested in watching him while they do their own thing, instead of playing with him and his things. I don't get it. So anyway, when Mike was giving Spencer a bath, he left the door open for once and I turned and saw Mike sitting on the toilet (fully dressed) reading a magazine. Hello???? Here's a perfect time to talk about colors, number, and letters with the foamy thingys, not to mention encouraging pretend play by brushing the ducky's teeth and washing it, etc. Mike does do body parts while he washes Spencer, but there's opportunity for so much more. Most importantly, easy quality daddy time. And Mike is reading a goddamned magazine. So I went in and sat next to the tub and started playing with Spencer. Mike continued to read his magazine until he declared it time to wash. As I left he said that he got the hint and he would do more with Spencer in the tub.
