Wow!! (Ironic that I think I started my last post the same way.) The changes in Spencer over the last couple of days are downright shocking. He is talking. Really talking. He repeats the important word in each sentence. It's usually the last word, but not always. He is pointing to Rachel when I say where's Rachel. And trying to say her name. He tries to say his name when I ask him. He says daddy when I say who's that and point to Mike. His personality is shining through too. He's more playful and wants me to play with him more. He takes my hand and leads me to his room or a car or something. He took my hand today and said 'come on'. He put the cars on the shelf when we were cleaning up with me just telling him (in an offhand way, even) just once. Then he said 'good job'. He stood at the counter and said cookie and want cookie. It is truly amazing. He's showing that he knows red and blue. His eye contact has improved dramatically. He tried to say grammie (which i think is a hard word, don't know if I'm right). Yesterday we had a playdate and I told him "say good bye to Dylan". He said bye-bye Dylan. Whoopee!! I can't wait to tell Jen. She'll be thrilled. Oh and he said pancake this morning to choose his breakfast. I could go on and on, but I won't.
Rachel is doing better too. Not to say she isn't whiney, but she's better. I think she really was just hungry. For breakfast this morning she had an entire waffle, then ate all of her yogurt. Then a couple of ounces and a 2 hour nap. She also went down for her afternoon nap at 2. I think she was ready at 1, but she disagreed - loudly :oP.
Mike and I watched a movie while they napped, and then Lucy came and played with them for awhile. It wasn't the complete break that I think Mike wanted, but it was a break. We were able to play a little WoW, but kept getting interupted.
Mike is sick again. He just feels cold. He's wearing several layers including a stocking cap, and is still cold. I think he just needs a break again. It's been a hard week for him. I'm really trying to be supportive. I just get so annoyed when he's so sick, but feels better at 2 o'clock (when the kids go down for nap). Then he just feels like crap, but is better around 7. I know he doesn't do it on purpose and when you're sick you tend to feel better when there's nothing to do. It just seems like a very convenient coincidence. His mom was getting on his nerves today. He said he can only have a 3 minute conversation and then she drifts off into something else. I don't really know what he's talking about, but I just agree. I think she's coming up again tomorrow.
In other news, there was an interview with MV published in the Enquirer this week. He said that N started the fire, then attacked him. He killed her in self defense and then went after the kids but couldnt' get to them. That's bullshit. Complete bullshit. I kept trying to defend him in my mind until I read that, but that interview reminded me of the MV I knew. Arrogant to a fault, and always right. There is NO CHANCE IN HELL that she set the fire and then attacked him without getting the kids to safety first. NONE! If she did start the fire, then she would have done it after attacking him. I knew both of them reasonably well. I would never have believed that either was capable of what happened. If I had to pick though (as sadly it seems I have to) I would pick him as the culprit in a heartbeat. I think his lawyer told him to give 'his version' of the story to the media just to screw with the jury pool. It doesn't have to be true for him to tell it to the newspaper. It's not perjury. The truth will come out in court, but in the meantime, let's fuck with people's minds a bit. Before that interview I kept thinking that there must have been some sort of explanation that makes him not this monster. Now that he's told these lies, about the wife that he vowed to love and then cheated on and killed, I say bring on the chair. The sooner the better. Lets move the trial to Texas. Tomorrow. Oh, he also said that he told her he was leaving and taking the kids with him. That's downright laughable. Fucking hysterical. Mike said, 'And what happens when the wake up the next morning and want breakfast, he wouldn't know what to do'. Feed them raw broccoli with mayonnaise? MV doesn't eat vegetables, and on the rare occassion he does, they must be raw and served with mayo - guess that will change in prison - they are just a little to pedestrian for him. He'd rather have shrimp in place of the veggies, because that's more expensive. Funny how I'd forgotten little tidbits like that last week. Seems like this interview reminded me of the real him. Also I got the impression from friends that he isn't taking this whole thing very seriously. OMG!!! Anyway enough on that...
One more thing about Spencer, he won't call me mommy or point to me when we say where's mommy. Like he's being completely bullheaded about it. Yesterday, he patted his chest and said 'my mommy' when we asked him where mommy was. I know he's imitating me becuase I point to myself and say 'I'm mommy" all the time. Oh and he was sorting through his toys today and as Rachel got closer he kept saying 'my' for every one. Too cute!
