It's snowing like crazy here. We got a few inches yesterday and then some ice overnight and probably 5 more inches today. I cursed myself yesterday for not buying snow boots and clothes so the kids could go out and enjoy it. So this morning, while the fluffy stuff is still coming down, I decided to just put them in layers and not stay out long. Stupid idea...
Rachel put on all her layers happily. She wasn't happy when I put the ziploc over her socks before her crocs (her brown shoes wouldn't fit after the second pair of socks), but she took it in stride. I put on a pair of Mike's old socks over the crocs and up her legs. They went up to her knees. She happily put on gloves and hat and waited to go outside.
Spencer didn't like the layers, but was willing to be subjected to them until I brought out the ziplocs for his feet. Same principle as Rachel's - two pairs of socks, a ziploc, crocs, and then daddy's sock over that. Begin tantrum. So I put him down and walked away, trying to keep my rage in check. Of course he follows me, trying not to cry but very upset. So I got myself dressed, told Spencer the conditions of going outside and tried again. He was agreeable until he saw the ziplocs. So I caved and just tried to put on his shoes. Nope, he wasn't having that either. So I told him he just couldn't go outside. Of course, Mike called about 4 seconds later and it was everything I could do to hold back and not start screaming at him just because he was an easy target. That wouldn't have been fair. He, naturally, thought my distress was about him (typical man) and now things are strained.
Rachel and I went outside with the dogs while Spencer stood at the door and watched. We were out for about 2 minutes before she wanted me to pick her up, and another minute before she wanted to come inside.
One child is happy to get dressed but doesn't want to be outside.
The other won't get dressed, but would spend all day in the snow if I let him.
Can I squish them into just one? Of course if I did, I'd get a child who wouldn't get dressed and didn't want to be outside either lol.
And I NEED A LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I broke down and tried to fix mine, assuming that if I put the effort forth it would work. It didn't. That sucks.
