Well the day wasn't a complete wash. I got the driveway shoveled lol.
And more importantly, I solved the great laptop dilemma. When I originally started digitial scrapbooking, my laptop's hard drive got filled rather quickly. So I bought a new hard drive and installed it myself (mac's are so user friendly). Luckily, I kept the old one. I popped it in and it stilled worked!!! I had to do a complete wipe of the drive and start from scratch, but again because I have a mac, the important stuff was easy to sync up. So I have a brand new, old computer. Yippee!!! AND I even cleaned the toddler sized hand prints off the screen so I can actually see it.
Actually the day did end well. I shoveled the drive mostly because I needed a break. My neighbors came out with their two kids (similar ages to mine) who, of course, both loved the snow and were sledding down the driveway as I was shoveling. That actually made me feel worse, because that's what I really wanted our day to be like, but whatever, there will be more snow next year. Mike came out with hot cocoa for me. Spencer was running around the house 'flying' his planes. He bargained with me on bedtime, a developmental milestone that Rachel has seemed to hit, but he hadn't yet. One more game (he is seriously addicted to MarioKart) and then bedtime. Win-win!
Oh, and he and Rachel ate almost an entire frozen pizza! Probably 2/3 of it. And the both ate a big lunch. Strange. I was happy though, because we had made cookies and since they both ate so much we had cookies and ice cream for dessert. If there's no 'real' food before the sugar, Spencer gets downright mean. Like really mean. Like I'm-going-to-talk-to-the-doctor-about-it kinda mean. But since he had so much pizza, it was cool. Rachel doesn't seem to have the same problem with sugar, which is good.
And one last funny bit. After we put Spencer to bed, I told him not to turn on his lights, which I tell him every night. And which he ignores every night. (Last week the lights were in the hallway all week b/c he was staying up very late with them on). So I gave him a nightlight last night, in the hopes of curbing the whole issue. Of course, the first thing he did last night was pull it out of the wall - then I heard him sitting in his bed telling it to come back on lol. So tonight, he pulled the monitor base down off the shelf above his bed and turned the light on it on. He put it on the little table next to his bed. So he had the big light, the little light (both on the wall switch) and two nightlights as well. Luckily he was still asleep within 15 minutes.
Okay, I think I'm off to bed. We are hosting a playgroup tomorrow and I completely forgot about it. Luckily I made cookies today lol. Gotta spend the morning cleaning!
