We had our second eval yesterday. It went better than the first. There was only one person doing the evaluating, though the psychologist stopped by to observe for a few minutes. She went through the standard tests. Spencer cooperated for a bit, but then decided pretty vocally that he was done. She said that we would get a call about meeting. At that meeting we will decide if he needs an IEP, and then if he does, we'll have another meeting to create one. Then, at some point he may actually start preschool. I think we will try this preschool for awhile and then look into something else for next year if we don't like the way things are going.
We went to a new McDonalds for lunch today. They had an indoor playland and the kids had an absolute blast. Spencer ate about 1 bite of a chicken nugget then screamed 'play' repeatedly until I allowed him to do just that. For the next HOUR he was just a blur. Up the climby thing then down the slide, then over again. I think he must have gone down 30 times. And on the toddler side they had musical things, like a slide that looked like a piano and sounded like running your hand down a keyboard as the kids slid down. And drums. Rachel had a lot of fun there. But she kept getting really annoyed because the steps up the slide were too steep for her (probably designed intentionally). It was good because she would have gotten up to the top and been stuck. Too many kids for her, she would have frozen and cried. So I was glad she was too little. A lot of fun though. I could actually sit and eat my lunch and know they were fine. There were a LOT of kids though. Spencer loved every minute, I think he could only have been happier if it were even more crowded. I always thought that he would be the shy one and Rachel was the 'pistol', but I was wrong. She gets shier each day and he gets more bold. I love watching them grow and seeing their personalities emerge.
Rachel is also cutting a tooth, she was exceptionally clingy and whiney today. Poor little thing. She had 4 meltdowns in 10 minutes, each time needing tight hugs from mommy to collect herself. I gave her some Tylenol and she's in bed.
Its time to feed the dogs.
